A Civil War story of a fifteen-year-old boy, too young to enlist, who joins his brother in the cavalry as a bugler. At the end of the book, the narrator as a grown man looking back on his experiences, describes his story as "substantially a true narrative. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition. Brown cloth binding with light ruling; titles on spine and front cover are gilt. Clean text; 193 pages. Illustrated by J.H. Fry. An exceptionally clean textblock, but the binding does show a bit of wear: mild bumping, rubbing to the head and foot of the spine, and a small tear on the rear cover.
