Mordtmann war ein Autor von fantastischen, z. T. auch Gruselgeschichten und -Erzählungen, der sogar eine Erzählung in der Zeitschrift 'Weird Tales' veröffentlichte, in der beispielsweise auch H. P. Lovecraft regelmäßig veröffentlichte. Der vorliegende, schön erhaltene Band enthält 15 kürzere Märchen. Das Werk weist in seiner Ausgestaltung zahlreiche Jugendstilelemente auf. Der Druck erfolgte bei Breitkopf und Härtel in Leipzig.
