Siraudeau & cie - Sans date - In-8 - Broché - 16 pages - très propre - Envoi manuscrit - Réf. 49740 Le Marquis de Turbilly explique comment, ayant hérité de son père en 1737 un domaine situé en Anjou de 3000 arpents (environ 1000 hectares), dont la plus grande partie était inculte, il l'améliora par des défrichemens e…t des drainages et en fit une propriété modèle. Il mentionne aussi plusieurs innovations : achat de taureaux reproducteurs et de moutons flandrins, création d'un haras, introduction de cultures nouvelles comme le chanvre et le lin, et même fondation d'un prix d'agriculture pour les paysans. La seconde partie est plus économique : moyens pour encourager propriétaires et fermiers à défricher les terres incultes du royaume (moyens, fiscaux, sociaux, administratifs). Le livre connut un grand succès. L'action de Turbilly eut valeur d'exemple et son rôle ne se limita pas à l'Anjou. Ami et conseiller du ministre Bertin, il inspira la circulaire aux intendants du 22 Août 1760, les invitant à créer des sociétés d'agriculture. Il fut également à l'origine de l'arrêt du conseil du 16 Avril 1761, en faveur des défrichements. Barbier III, 171 ; INED, 4356 ; Kress, 5909. 2° Deuxième édition augmentée. Une planche hors texte. Kress, 5989. 3° Edition originale ornée d'une planche hors-texte. L'auteur et la date de publication sont attribués d'après le contenu. L'auteur précise : « Ayant reconnu que la planche gravée sur bois qui représente ces instruments, & qui est placée à la tête du livre (Mémoire sur les défrichemens) avoit été très-mal exécutée, j'en ai fait graver une autre sur cuivre » et à la fin, « Telles sont les observations & les seuls changements qu j'ai cru devoir faire dans cette seconde édition. Comme je souhaite que tous ceux qui ont la première (du Mémoire sur les défrichemens) puissent en profiter, sans qu'il leur en coute rien, je les préviens que j'ai fait imprimer ces Observations sur un cahier séparé, avec la nouvelle planche, & que l'on remettra gratis à trois mois chez le libraire autant de ces cahiers que l'on y présentera d'exemplaires de cette première édition, sur lesquels on en fera note. Nombreuses illustrations in et hors texte en noir et en couleurs. Légère insolation au dos et infimes usures à la reliure. Henry Morin, illustrateur, humoriste d'origine alsacienne, (Strasbourg 1…873-1961), rentre aux Beaux-arts de Paris. A partir de 1906, il se spécialisa dans l'illustration de livres pour enfants entre 1897 et 1925 il est l'un des principaux illustrateurs de la revue Mon Journal. L'artiste n'a pas seulement produit des oeuvres badines pour la jeunesse puisque c'est à lui que l'on doit de nombreux cartons de vitraux pour la cathédrale du Mans. Livre. .
