This study of the dialect of the North East of Scotland, as it was spoken over the past 200 years or so, reflects the speech of our parents and relatives who grew up in the last quarter of the nineteenth century and spoke the language ot their parents and grandparents. Remaining fundamentally unaltered until well into the twentieth century, it was our native language. The book is divided up into topics eg the farm, the weather, old age, illness, food, visiting friends and relatives.
