Originally published, 1959 - this is the 1972 facsimile reprint (estimated date, Trove catalogue.) Mining continued in a limited way until the late 1930s. In the late 1940s the area was an important part of the enormous Snowy Mountains Scheme built to improve power generation and irrigation.
