Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. Mild rubbing wear in a few places on the covers. Smudging to the title page and a few small stains on the last several pages. Black cloth with ornate gilt lettering and decoration. 160 pages illustrated with numerous color and some black and white photos. Designed for an international audience to showcase Haitian culture and pride, this multilingual volume features text in French, Spanish, and English. Published around 1967-1968 under the direction of Raymond A. Moyse, who has inscribed the book. Moyse, who also selected the citations from Haitian literature and wrote the captions (légendes) alongside Henri Bourget. Spanish translations were done by Christophe Mervilus, and English translations by Emile Brun and Raymond Regala. While many photographers contributed to specific pages—including Jane Barbancourt and R. et G. Baussan—the majority of the photography for other pages was realized by Guy Touveron. Printed in Belgium by Imprimerie Márci and published by Editions Delroisse in France. It was represented in the Americas by Haiti Visite S.A. Published in the late 1960s to promote national pride, order, and cultural richness to the outside world, contrasting with the political repression and isolation the country faced internationally under the presidency of François "Papa Doc" Duvalier (1957-1971). Today, it offers a visual record of Haitian life and architecture in the late 1960s. B48. …

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. An album of images of Haiti in the late sixties.the beauty of the tropics and the seaside without seeing the struggles of the people of the Country. I worked in Haiti in the early 1980s, on an agricultural development project. The farmers were gracious and appreciative of our interest and support. Their real hopes.that the health clinics were functioning and that the schools were effective, so that they children could grow up healthy and educated and perhaps have a chance to escape the hardscrabble life of the peasants in this beautiful country. Please find a trilingual book, filled from cover to cover with colorful photos of Haiti, its people and life there. The small amount of text and the captions of all the many color photos are in French, Spanish and English. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are clean and attractive, with its gilt decorations and titles. The corners and spine tips are a bit bumped and there is a small chip out of the bottom edge of the rear board. Inside, there is a gift inscription, in English on the first blank page. The interior pages and color plates are clean and bright, without toning or foxing, with the exception of the last page (page 160- the colophon) which has some foxing, albeit without affecting the legibility of the text. Both hinge are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Many (illustratore).…
