Covers moderately worn and rubbed, some shelfwear, small dents on top and side edge of front board, paper worn away by side dent, corners and spine tips bumped and worn, scuffing and small bit of worming to spine, spine re- backed, corners re-cornered, staining to boards near leather, tiny bit of sealing wax on rear board, scattered spotting and staining (mainly near front and rear), tiny tears, small pieces out of the side margins of p 89- 92, p 157-160 are bound between pages 176 and 177 else good. Lerebours of Paris sold optical intruments. However, he is more well known as one of the early publishers of photographic views. He would give daguerrotype equipment to artists and writers and they would in turn take photos in various foreign countries, i.e, France, Egypt, Spain, Palestine. In 1840, Lerebours published "Excursions Daguerriennes," within the next two years he issued a two-volume work. Fourth Ed.
