However, he soon received permission from Heartman's widow to change the name to American Book Collector. There were 233 issues published before its demise in 1976. A third incarnation of the American Book Collector, unrelated to the others, appeared in 54 issues between 1980 and 1987. . First Edition. Softcover. New. hardcover. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Publication: London, Elkin Mathews Ltd, 1925. Formatting: 8vo. Condition Report: Very Good in a Good dust-jacket. The binding remains firm and structurally sound, with the underlying brown cloth visible at the head of the spine presenting well. The original printed paper dust-jacket exhibits significant signs of age and wear, most notably pronounced chipping, creasing, and closed tears along the entire top edge and crown of the spine. The rear panel of the jacket is largely intact, save for a small chip and creasing at the top right corner. Internally, the book is largely clean, though the title page displays moderate foxing and spotting. The tipped-in monochrome plate, which depicts an allegorical autumn scene, remains securely attached and in good order. Catalogue Note: A true first edition of this scarce 1925 anthology, published by Elkin Mathews Ltd. Conceived as a companion volume to Green-Kirtled Spring, this collection features a selection of autumnal texts accompanied by evocative tipped-in plates. The work is particularly notable for surviving in its original, printed brown paper dust-jacket. This delicate binding style was highly susceptible to damage and is rarely found intact a century later. Its scarcity on the open market makes this an appealing acquisition for collectors of early 20th-century British literary anthologies and Elkin Mathews imprints. In Autumn's Sickle is a charming 1925 anthology celebrating the season of autumn through a curated selection of poetry and prose. Accompanied by beautiful tipped-in illustrations, this collection gathers contributions from notable literary figures of the era. It serves as a nostalgic and evocative homage to the fading light and golden hues of the autumn months. N/A (illustratore).…
