Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book takes you on a visceral journey through the bustling streets and claustrophobic subways of 1920s New York City. Through the eyes of a young man named Jim, we experience the raw emotions and anxieties of a society grappling with social unrest, economic hardship, and the looming execution of Sacco and Vanzetti. Jim's inner monologue reveals a man caught between the drudgery of his daily routine and his yearning for a more fulfilling life. He dreams of escaping the confines of his job and societal expectations, fantasizing about a life of freedom and excitement as a traveling salesman. His encounters with various characters, from the alluring yet dismissive women on the subway to his own family members, paint a poignant picture of the human condition in a rapidly changing world. The author masterfully weaves together themes of class, desire, and disillusionment, offering a glimpse into the complexities of the human psyche. This book is not just a story about Jim, but a reflection on the universal struggles of individuals seeking meaning and connection in a world often defined by inequality and injustice. Ultimately, it leaves us pondering the enduring question of how to navigate our own desires and aspirations within the limitations of our circumstances. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
