At the time of publication, it was the only book completely devoted to the 1851 Colt Navy, one of the most popular Colt antique models. There are 167 plates showing 220 individual photogrpahs. Each photograph shows a model, sub-model, variation, marking, exterior part, as well as charts, letters, maps, documents, etc. All of the Harford models and sub models are pictured and described. The three London models are pictured and described also. U.S. Martials (U.S. Army and U.S. Navy), foreign martials (England, Austria, Canada, and Australia), 4 screw cut for stock models, metallic cartridge models, and Brevetes are included. Each exterior part (with variations) is pictured and explained. Previously unknown information is scattered throughout the book. There is a chapter devoted to serial number ranges given by year of production (where known) by models and sub-models, by U.S. Martials and foreign martials, and part by part. There are also three charts on the Hartford models and sub-models, the London models, and U.S. Martials. An outstanding and timeles reference. Long out of print. There is a neat gift inscription to the prior owner, otherwise a beautiful Very Fine As New copy in a Fine Dust Jacket at a reasonable price.
