Condizione: As New. Like new condition, no interior marks. The sixth edition of this classic text retains the best from earlier editions and adds thirteen new selections that highlight twenty-first century challenges, including terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. Strategies for using force, together with case studies that illustrate the general principles, are hallmarks of the text. New case studies include Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and South Asia. An entirely new section devoted to "coping with terrorism" looks at the issue from a variety of geographical and philosophical viewpoints. Praise for previous editions: "The Use of Force continues to offer a most stimulating blend of contemporary and traditional perspectives on international relations, very valuable for students new to the subject, but essential also for the experienced researcher trying to maintain his or her bearings. The contributions are chosen for their readability and their timelessness. The perspective is always realistic, in the best sense of the term." —George Quester, University of Maryland"A very useful compendium of articles on critical questions of military force in world politics." —Joseph S. Nye, Jr., Harvard University"A very useful and balanced collection that covers many facets of the problem, logically organized by two of the most sensible scholars in the field." —Richard K. Betts, The Brookings Institution"This book is indispensable for courses that deal with security issues."—Robert C. Gray, Franklin and Marshall College"Written by some of today's most well-known and established academics and foreign policy strategists. . . . This book will make an excellent addition to the professional library of any Marine leader concerned with how the Corps can most effectively structure itself to remain a leading instrument in the implementation of American foreign policy."—Marine Corps Gazette.

Soft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. First Edition. Very slight crease on front cover, else a fine copy with no stains, marks, or writing. A layman's guide to the various problems facing the Texas coastal region. Some of the topics covered include guidelines for buying and building along the shore, land use and the law, the dynamics of shoreline change, and suggestions for fascinating field trips through the region. This is the second of a planned 20-book series on coastal living and management. Keep in mind that this book is over 20 years old and, as the shoreline changes, so do laws, regulations, and guidelines for coastal development and living. Still, this should serve as a very thorough guide. 190 page with many figures, tables, and photos.

This Canadian wartime pulp magazine was published from August 1942 through December 1945, 2-1/2 years longer than its US counterpart. It generally reprinted stories from the US versions of Super Science Stories, Astonishing Stories and Famous Fantastic Mysteries, but also from earlier magazines All-Story, Argosy, and Munsey's. Several original stories were published, stories which had been purchased by the US version of Super Science Stories before its demise in 1943. These original stories were later reprinted in the US Super Science Stories upon its resurrection in 1949. The cover art for this Canadian pulp magazine was generally re-painted versions of the US pulp. The stories in this issue were earlier published in Famous Fantastic Mysteries, All-Story and Argosy, and there are no original stories. Faint partial cover crease, 1/2 inch split to spine top, a near fine copy.
