Edges lightly rubbed. A well preserved book with an interesting provenance. ** Nevada N. Stranahan (February 27, 1861 - July 6, 1928). Born Osewego County, New York. He was a member of the New York Senate 1896-1902. In March 1902, he was appointed by President Theodore Roosevelt as Collector of Port of New York. In 1907 he had to resign his seat and resign the collectorship due to ill health. Stranahan died in Winwick, Huntingdonshire, England. His wife Elsie predeceased him in 1922. Afterward he lived in Winwick with his daughter Louise, the wife of Major Henry Torrens. Subsequently the collection of poetry books were passed down via various members of the Torrens family.
