A wonderful pairing of two outstanding Russian Soviet orchestral works, featuring the USSR Academic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yevgeni Svetlanov. CONTENTS: Miaskovsky's 1941 Symphony-Ballade (Symphonic Ballade) No. 22 in B minor, Op. 54 is considered to be the composer's response to World War II. It is in three movements; Lento - Allegro ma non troppo; Andante molto espressivo; Allegro energico ma non troppo vivace. Svetlanov's 1970 Festive Poem, Op. 9 is joyful and optimistic, masterfully orchestrated. The Liner Notes are in English. CONDITION: A solid Very Good Plus LP record [not a CD!] in a Very Good jacket (with light edge- and corner-wear but moderate ring-wear).
