Condizione: Fine. - Quarto [11 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide], softcover. The contents are bound with cream cord between decorative printed blue cover sheets. [26] leaves printed on one side only, including 14 color xerox plates. There is a small label mounted on each plate giving the title and date of the work depicted. Also with black-and-white textual illustrations. There is a very small area of soiling to the verso of 1 plate. Near fine. Collaborators Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese have worked together since the early 1980s. Their art includes videography, installations, sculptures and what they describe as "video books", several of which are illustrated here. The artists write: "For the past five years we have been working on a series of sculptures, which could be called 'video installations'. We prefer to use the term 'video books' to describe them. They are pieces, which make use of video in relation to printed media, such as newspapers and books. They focus on how we read the media and demonstrate that video and television, as vehicles for words and images, are texts to read and decipher. We expand on this metaphorically and have made book structures that incorporate monitors and video." They then go on to comment on the individual ''books", their origins and the materials used.Very scarce. We were unable to locate any copies in WorldCat.…

9.75 x 12.75 x 2.25 in. black clamshell box with goldstamped cover, housing 23 paste papers (9 x 12 in.) and 30 monoprints (9 x 12 in.), from original production runs of Lost Link, with design information labeled on verso. Sections are separated by black cardstock dividers with goldstamped titles. Includes colophon booklet with history of Lost Link and edition information designed by Granary Books and M.C. Kinniburgh, in Lost Link paste paper wrapper with goldstamped title. Book conservators Nora Ligorano and Vin Buchan founded Lost Link in New York City in 1988, producing hand-painted paste papers as well as long-stitch blank books and photographic albums. Lost Link would later translate these designs into applications for upholstery, apparel, wall coverings, and other interior and commercial projects. Vin Buchan recalls: "Our mission was to produce beautiful papers that were sold to artists, designers and bookbinders and in addition, we used these papers on our own blank books which we sold. Encountering the long arc of Western bookmaking, we took our inspiration from early decorative paste papers that we had seen as trainee binders in rare book museums and institutional libraries and had so admired. We wanted the papers to bring a contemporary feel to this traditional form, that we felt was reflected and radiated from our own artistic lives in New York City." The paste papers were produced entirely by hand in Brooklyn by Buchan, Ligorano, and part-time assistants Rosalia Galassi and Christine Legoff (fueled, they recollect, by bread and chocolate sandwiches). Averaging about 30 sheets every four days, focusing on one or two designs, the paste papers represented a labor-intensive artistic process, which Buchan and Ligorano balanced with teaching activities at the Center for Book Arts and binding blank books for sale at the Museum of Modern Art and Zona. Lost Link's paste papers have been exhibited at the Grolier Club in New York City, and featured in Mindell Dubansky's Pattern and Flow: A Golden Age of American Decorated Paper, 1960s to 2000s (Yale University Press, 2023). The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Thomas J. Watson Library acquired a comprehensive set of Lost Link papers in 2019, and the Lost Link archive was acquired by Texas A&M University in 2025. This comprehensive portfolio represents Lost Link's core paste papermaking practice, and includes 23 sheets of the production papers that formed the backbone of Lost Link's original catalog of papers for sale, including production papers identified alphabetically, and double-coated papers identified numerically. In addition, the 30 sheets of monoprints represent paste paper designs that were produced experimentally. The monoprints are either extremely small-batch editions, or unique designs. Includes production paste paper designs lettered B-J and L-R; double-coated papers identified numerically as no. 3-7, and 14; and the paste paper exclusively used for long-stitch blank books and photo albums for sale at the Museum of Modern Art in the early 1990s. There are also 30 monoprints with handpainted elements, produced as unique designs or in very limited runs. A unique open edition, produced by Lost Link in 2026. Signed by Vin Buchan and Nora Ligorano on the colophon booklet. Fine. Signed. …
