Talmadge (1893-1957), born May 26, 1893, Jers…ey City, New Jersey; died December 24, 1957, Las Vegas, Nevada; American silent screen actress and film producer; sister of actresses Natalie and Constance Talmadge; debut with Vitagraph in 1910; both she and Constance Talmadge rose to superstardom in silent films; Norma was barely 18 when she played the leading lady in her first important film, the original screen version of "A Tale of Two Cities" 1911; her future as a star really began shaping up after she married the influential producer Joseph Schenck; Norma¿s career reached a peak in the early 1920¿s when she ranked among the most popular idols of the American screen; in 1934, she divorced Schenck and married George Jessel; film career 1914-1930: "Sawdust and Salome" 1914; "A Daughter of Israel" 1914; "Forbidden City" 1918; "The Way of a Woman" 1918; "The Eternal Flame" 1922; "Within the Law" 1923; "Camille" 1927; "Du Barry Woman of Passion" 1930.

Paper is very browned and brittle, a number of page corners are broken off, ownership signature on title page, very good otherwise. The film was produced by Joseph Schenck Productions, starring Norma Talmadge a…nd Ronald Colman. The original story is from the 1920 novel by Andre Picard, later (1921) adapted for the stage by David Belasco and produced on Broadway. The film was remade in 1931, starring Mary Pickford.

Aggiungi al carrelloVintage borderless portrait photograph of actress Norma Talmadge, circa 1920s. With the insignia of New York photographer Irving Chidnoff on the bottom right corner of the image. Talmadge was born into near-poverty in New Jersey, working as a model as a teenager to help make ends meet. Her talent attracted the attention of Vitag…raph studio executives, and she soon moved to Hollywood with her mother, where she appeared in a number of successful films, most notably the 1917 silent film "Panthea." However, as with many of her contemporaries, her voice was considered unsuitable for sound film, and she retired from film in the late 1920s, after two failed attempts at talkies in 1929 and 1930. Russian-born photographer Irving Chidnoff founded his studio in Manhattan in 1925, and soon became known for his humanistic, personality-driven portraits, a warmer contrast to the glamorous style favored by many Hollywood photographers in the early twentieth century. His studio remained open until the mid-1950s, servicing stage actors, classical musicians, and society figures of New York. 7 x 9 inches. Near Fine.
