Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. The book is very clean and tight with no marks or inscriptions. The slipcase box it comes in is less healthy, being slightly bumped and with the spine slightly loose. Despite this it is colourfully illustrated and speaks of the heroines "gravity-prone panties". Every phrase that I think of to follow this quotes ticks the inappropriate box.

[Jane is a comic strip created, and drawn by Norman Pett exclusively for the British tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror from 5 December 1932 to 10 October 1959. Jane was born when artist Norman Pett made a wager that he could create a comic strip as popular to adults as the strip Pip, Squeak and Wilfred was to children. Jane was first published by Norman Pett, on 5 December 1932 as Jane's Journal - The Diary of a Bright Young Thing, Pett drew her until 1948. Mike Hubbard began assisting Pett in 1946, and succeeded Pett. Originally Pett's wife Mary modelled for him, but in the late 1930s, she abandoned modelling in pursuit of golf. Pett then teamed up with Chrystabel Leighton-Porter whom he met while she was modeling for a class in Birmingham in 1939].

These are the cartoon strip (mis)adventures of Britain's first and best loved World War II Pin-up-the scintillating, blond, clothes-phobic cartoon legend that was Lady Jane Gay. Jane began life in 1932 but came to fame thanks to her wonderful wartime adventures. Jane spent the war battling 5th columnists and Nazi spies at home and on secret missions deep inside enemy territory. Jane's quintessentially British adventures were filled with sauciness and light-hearted action which helped to make her a major morale boaster for the Allied forces. Reprinting 531 daily strips from Oct 1943 to Jun 1945, rarely seen full colour pin-up art from the 1940s and an interview with Norman Pett written in 1945 for the Canadian armed forces newspaper "The Maple Leaf". 144 pages. Size: 8" x 10" (205mm x 250mm). ISBN: 1848561679. (1.5 TMOJANE).

Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Wraps. Staplebound 8vo., with the original publisher's full colour illustrated wrapper. pp 125Profusely illustrated throughout in colour (duotone) by Norman Pett ('Pett') with illus in text also. Quite risque or the 1940s. Some minor shelf-wear, slight loss at spine, no marks; used near vg. Illustrated by Norman Pett (1891-1960), who created the WWII era pin-up comic strip 'Jane' ('Britain's secret weapon' - Churchill). A rare offering from Rylee publishers, who started life in the inter-war period as commercial photographers before moving into printing and publishing post war, mainly reprints of children's classics, and books on trains. This somewhat adult offering was out of character, and the sequel promised in the blurb does not appear to have materialised. Freeman / Gristead (1903 - 1972) also wrote for The Eagle. Uncommon, two copies only on WorldCat.
