Enthalten sind lose inliegend die drei frühen Original-Bleischnitte von Otto Nückel ("Wassermühle", "Dorfstraße", "Liebespaar") und ein Original-Holzschnitt auf dem vorderen Deckel ("Aufgebahrt"). Zusätzlich enthalten sind vier weitere Original-Bleischnitte von Otto Nückel - drei Blätter im Format der Publikation (ca. 24,4 x 17,6 cm), ein Blatt im größeren Format (ca. 25,5 x 19,5 cm). The process allowed a greater depth of character and inspired Lynd Ward to tackle the medium, beginning with Gods' Man in 1929. Ward's success brought about this U.S. publication of Destiny in 1930. Literary scholars have praised the work for the complexity of its plot, its social consciousness, and its focus on an individual character. Destiny first appeared in German [SchicksalI] in 1926.
