Dabei gehören Feuer und Eisen von Anfang an zu seinen vornehmlich verwendeten Medien und sind zu seinem Markenzeichen geworden: Aus Feuerhörnern und -büschen…aus geschweißtem Metall züngeln die Flammen und sprühen die Funken. Wiedmer spielt mit diesem zugleich faszinierenden und abschreckenden Element, richtet Feuermuseen ein, baut Feuerdrachen und führt Autodafés durch. Daneben entstehen auch architektonische Skulpturen wie Brücken oder eiserne Tempel. Seit 1997 betreibt er den Skulpturenpark La Serpara im italienischen Civitella d'Agliano, unweit der Gärten von Bomarzo. Dieser reich bebilderte Katalog begleitet eine Retrospektive von Wiedmers Werk, die im Museum Tinguely Basel gezeigt wird.
