Fiction. Bimonthly Magazine-Book was founded and directed by the Spaniard Juan Goyanarte, "writer, journalist, adventurer, editor, businessman, landowner", considered "one of the most versatile figures of the Basque diaspora in South America", who had been managing partner of the editorial and magazine Sur. Due to differences with Victoria Ocampo, he followed his own path and, in addition to the magazine, founded the Editorial Juan Goyanarte. In 1963, Goyanarte withdrew from the project and the direction of Ficción was left to another Spaniard, Víctor Sáiz. Ficción was published between 1956 and 1971. The editorial decision at the beginning was not to publish poems, in a period marked by abundant poetry magazines. Therefore, he devoted himself especially to narrative and criticism; it published some monographic numbers, such as those dedicated to the literature of Uruguay and Brazil, or to the 150 years of the May Revolution; and it included lasting fixed sections on cinema, theater, plastic arts, music, ballet, chronicles, publishing novelties, panoramas of the literatures of other countries. From #43-44, the subtitle changed to Revista de las Letras y de las Artes, the content and its design: it incorporated poetry, illustrations, photos and thematic anthologies, but it was never the same again and its publication became dashed; In an attempt to launch a second period, with the title Ficción y Realidad, four numbers were published between 1972 and 1973.
