Ron Smith became the Editor/Publisher with this very November, 1954 issue, which was also the first under this name. Octavo, stapled illustrated wraps, 34 pp. About Near Fine, showing just age toning and a corner crease. See scans. This late 1954 issue was the start of something new under Smith; not much interior art yet - but there would be in 1955 and 1956. Cover by Cindy (Smith), back cover Neil Austin, interior art by Cindy, Austin, Morris Scott Dollens, Gilbert, and Powlesland. Three short stories (see scan of contents page) are unusual for this fanzine series. The potential of these communities as rewarding areas for study is revealed in the literature on the pests of stored products, urban foxes and birds. The journals oflocal natural history societies have also provided a rich source of material as amateurs have never been averse to following the fortunes of their favourite groups into the heart of our cities.
