Juni 1804 in Jönköping; ? 31. Januar 1889 in Linköping) war ein schwedischer Schriftsteller und Arzt. Er war auch unter dem Pseudonym Onkel Adam bekannt. Bereits 1832 hatte sich Wetterbergh unter dem Pseudonym C-gh in der Zeitung Stockholmsposten als Novellist versucht. 1840 nahm er seine schriftstellerische Tätigkeit mit ungewöhnlichem Erfolg wieder auf. In diesem und im nächsten Jahr veröffentlichte er seine ersten, von Humor gekennzeichneten Genrezeichnungen in der Zeitung Aftonbladet unter den Pseudonymen Onkel Adam, Alexis, Pfefferkorn oder Herr Bagatelli, von denen sich das erstgenannte als bleibend erwies. 1842 wurden die Genrezeichnungen und Die vier Signaturen in Buchform herausgegeben, gefolgt von einer Reihe Romane und Novellen. Gleichzeitig verfasste er das Theaterstück Pröfningen (Die Prüfung), das 1842 im Nya Teatern uraufgeführt wurde. Wetterbergh zeigte reges Interesse an den politischen und sozialen Reformforderungen jener Zeit. Das spiegelte sich in den größeren Romanen wider, die er gegen Ende der 1840er Jahre verfasste: Penningar och arbete (Geld und Arbeit) (1847), unzweifelhaft seine bemerkenswerteste Schrift in diesen Jahren, Altartavlan (Das Altarbild) (1848) und Hat och kärlek (Hass und Liebe) (1849). Karl Friedrich Frisch (* 3. Februar 1808 in Demmin; ? 27. Mai 1874 in Stockholm) war ein deutsch-schwedischer Geograph und Übersetzer. (wikipedia) In deutscher Sprache. 233 pages. 12° (90 x 135mm).

Cloth. Condizione: Near Fine. Unusually bright, handsome copy of this work of Swedish genre art, with each painting telling a story that epitomizes an aspect of Swedish life and culture at the time. Folio, 38.5 by 26 cm. 17 double paged chromolithographic color plates, with long descriptions of each provided on two folding sheet…s following the particular plate. The descriptions are in given in Swedish, French, German and English, with a large fold-out page containing three columns given over to a description in one of the languages. Subjects include timber-floating, offerings in a country church, hay-making, a wedding dance, flax-dressing, bear hunting, home weaving, grindstone making, young militia men, a servant's fair, etc. Wallander (1821-1888) was also known for portrait and historical paintings. He spent a substantial part of his career as a member of the Swedish art colony based in the German city, Düsseldorf, but he did end in career back in Stockholm. Light wear to the binding.
