Prima ed unica edizione, assai rara, di questo contributo alla storia religiosa e locale del cuneese. Nato in Savigliano, da una famiglia che apparteneva al ceto dell'alta borghesia locale, Rabatà fu eletto alla carica di vescovo di Fossano il 26 novembre 1727 e fu consacrato da papa Benedetto Xl. Tutte le opere benefiche cittadine, dall'ospedale all'orfanotrofio femminile, dall'ospizio di carità al monte di pietà, lo annotarono tra i loro benefattori più insigni. Per primo cominciò a ragionare sulla necessità di costruire una nuova chiesa cattedrale in sostituzione di quella esistente che ormai era troppo angusta e, morendo, lasciò a questo scopo una cospicua somma. Con il suo contributo economico sostenne pure il Seminario diocesano. Tale era il suo zelo nell'attività pastorale e di benefattore della comunità locale che vennero celebrate in suo onore esequie solenni e l'orazione funebre fu eccezionalmente data alle stampe.
