Book plates of Kier House, Victor de Guinzbourg, and William Stirling, along with a handwritten noted signed "WS" on the first blank explaining that this seems to be a reprint of the English edition of "Select Proverbs" London 1707, in Stirling's copy of which is an inscription noting that the "author is Johawnis Mapletoft" Binding is clean and solid with minimal wear, just a bit of rubbing, interior has interesting bookplates, otherwise clean and unmarked. Seems to correspond to OCLC 800678850, which is shown as an octavo. This copy is in 8s but it is a 12mo size. Sporadiche arrossature/macchiette e piccolo alone alla base interna di alcune pagine. Esemplare ben conservato. Rara prima edizione di questa appassionata apologia del "Pastor fido" guariniano contro i canoni rigidamente aristotelici dei suoi detrattori.
