Includes "The Black Man's Lament or, How to make sugar" ; story runs two full pages and tells the story of black man being kidnapped and forced into slavery by the English. 12 color drawings accompany the storytelling which is written in part in negro dialect. A story that would certainly be banned today if it was about American slavery. Is a "Gibraltar library binding" (per stamp on back cover. Illustration imprinted on tab cloth covered boards is colorful; covers are lightly foxed & soiled on edges. Corners are lightly bumped No DJ. Edges of pages are lightly foxed. Interior pages have no writing, tears or creases. Binding firm - no loose pages. Book's measurements are approximately 7.75"W by 10.5" tall. Includes a bibliography.
