WorldCat, Online-Zugriff am 27.01.2022). - Die erste deutsche Ausgabe erschien 1911 bei Bonnier, Leipzig, in Übersetzung von der Schriftstellerin Emilie Stein (…ibid). - Ossian-Nilsson war ursprünglich überzeugter Sozialist, doch mit der Veröffentlichung von Barbarskogen trat er aus der Sozialistischen Partei aus (vgl. Dag Hedman, Karl Gustav Ossiannilsson, in: Svenskt biografiskt lexikon 28, Stockholm 1992, S. 400). In dem Roman äußert er einiges an Kritik an der sozialistischen Bewegung, die Sven Hedin erfreut aufgreift. Über Ossian-Nilsson schreibt Hedin in der Einleitung: Es ekelt ihn bei dem Gedanken an die alles verschluckende Solidarität (Einleitung, S. 7). Weiter bemängelt Hedin die vollendete Dummheit, wo alle Schlauköpfe totgebellt werden müssen (ibid). Ossian-Nilsson wurde Mitglied der Schwedischen Nationalen Jugendliga, trat jedoch 1939 in Protest gegen ihre pro-nationalsozialistische Einstellung wieder aus und veröffentlichte antinazistische Lyrik. - Einband schwach gebräunt u. angestaubt, Rücken etwas fleckig, Schnitt schwach stockfleckig, sonst gut erhaltenes Exemplar. gr.
