Veraltet scheint mir all dasjenige in ihr, wo der Philosophie eine höhere, erhabenere Aufgabe zuerkannt wird, als sie schon für Sokrates hatte. Ich möchte diese die doxokritische nennen und dann unter doxai diejenige Meinungen und Auffassungen verstehen, die man - und darunter an erster Stelle das nach seiner Meinung auf der Höhe der "Bildung" stehende und sich massgebend dünkende "Man" - über die höchsten menschlichen Dinge (z.B. über das "Sein" der Raumwelt und des Sittlich-Guten) als richtig und wichtig verkündet. Neben dem vergänglichen Teil des Kantischen Philosophierens besteht aber auch noch ein Teil der immer neu und fruchtbar bleiben wird. Zum Verständnis dieses Teils hoffe ich mit diesem Buch einen Beitrag geliefert zu haben, besonders im letzten Kapitel, für das ich die vorangehenden als eine Art Vorbereitung betrachte.
