To most of the Orthodox his views were shocking. It was at this time that they came into contact with the Anglicans. The Anglican and Orthodox Churches had much in common.' (p. 3) -- Palmer's [William, of Magdalen College, Oxford] attempt to storm the Russian sacramental citidel has usually been written off as a piece of individualism which did no harm, but did no good. A more charitable, and perhaps a juster, estimate is given by Florovsky: ".Certain links were established between Oxford and Moscow, and theological professors and students in Moscow used to collate Greek manuscripts of the Fathers for the Library of Fathers."' First edition of this installment in the 2nd year of the pulp magazine ed…ited by Pohl, which would only run until 1943, and featured an early story by Hubbard with De Camp, "The Last Drop" about an elixir from Borneo that caused people to grow, or shrink; and Brackett's Eric John Stark's "Retreat to the Stars" adventure.

The complete volume VII of six monthly issues, March through August of 1882. Bound in 1/2 green morroco over pebbled green cloth boards with title lettering stamped in gilt to upper board. No labels or gilt to spine…. Relatively obscure magazine of the late 19th century was apparently begun in Phil; adelphia and moved to New York about 1878. No examples located in any institurional holdings searched by Worldcat. This copy inscribed with Christmas wishes by one of the contributors, Charles W. F. Calvert (presumably a relation to the publisher). Dated 1882. Soundly bound with some shelf rubbing to leather over the corner tips and spine extremities. Mild gapping in the floral endsheets at the front hinge. Contents bright and clean. Rare. VG thus. . Oversize book may require additional charges for expedited or international shipping.
