Nouvelle Édition. 12mo (18cm.); full contemporary gilt-tooled sheep, gilt spine with red gilt onlay, marbled endpapers; 396pp.; added engraved title page dated 1822, hand-colored frontispiece and three hand-colored plates. Leather rather scuffed and dried with brief peeling…to upper cover and surface scratches to rear cover, spine sunned to tan, damp staining along bottom gutter edges affecting plates, else Very Good, text clean and sound. Near-unrecorded edition of the oft-reprinted pedagogical treatise by Laurent Pierre Bérenger (1749-1822), first published in 1783. We find no copies of this edition (whether under the date 1821 or 1822) in OCLC, COPAC, or KVK as of March, 2021; one copy in the trade (in France), though any copies with hand-colored plates appear to be quite rare.
