J'ai terminé mes démarches, en voici le résultat. Dès que vous aurez pris une décision, si vous avez besoin de moi, faites moi signe, j'irai vous trouver et faire ce que vous me demanderez. La belle partie du Père Lachaise (car sur le plateau en haut il y a autant de places qu'on en voudrait avoir) c'est à la hauteur du monument aux morts, là où il y a les beaux ombrages et les belles sépultures tout est plein. J'ai cependant découvert quatre places qui ne sont jamais offertes évidemment mais qu'on pourrait obtenir pour vous j'en suis persuadé. Les quatre places sont figurées sur le plan ci joint. Si Mann Wehrlé va au cimetière qu'il prévienne par téléphone le conservateur Mr Moiroux qui se mettra à sa disposition. A Passy on répond comme je m'y attendais, il n'y a rien plus aucune place. Mais je suis allé voir moi même et j'en ai trouvé quelques unes dans la partie moderne, qui sait même si en rectifiant un alignement on ne pourrait pas trouver une place dans la partie ancienne, la plus . . Pour cela j'engagerais Mann Wehrlé après une visite à Passy à voir de ma part Monsieur Garnier géomètre en chef des cimetières de Paris à l'Hôtel de Ville (annexe Lobau). Mr Garnier est un aimable homme il donne des renseignements précis et dira s'il faut s'adresser à Mr Eugière (?) chef du bureau des cimetières ou à Mr Moiroux Directeur des affaires municipales ou enfin à Mr de Selves (?) lui même. Mr Garnier sera très utile pour donner à Mann Wehrlé des renseignements et indiquer la marche à suivre. Si je puis vous être utile, je suis tout à vous. Ma femme vous envoie ses bons souvenirs et moi Chère Madame et amie je vous prie de croire à mon respectueux dévouement. Le terrain n'était pas réservé pour 24 heures, il était attribué à Madame Dubufe. Seulement ce qui a pu créer une petite confusion c'est que je n'est pas le droit de laisser commencer ces travaux tant que l'acquisition n'est pas faite. Pour vous montrer que tout va plus vite, & que je tiens dans la limite de mes moyens à vous donner ainsi qu'à Madame Dubufe satisfaction, ce matin à l'ouverture, en l'absence du géomètre j'ai été moi même tracer le terrain sur place, les travaux sont commencés. J'ai exprimé mon étonnement au conservateur (du cimetière), voici sa réponse. J'y vois un peu d'embarras. Sans doute il ne veut pas accuser un employé qui aura été la cause de tout le mal. Enfin je vois que tout est arrangé actuellement et que le travail est commencé. Samedi j'irai me rendre compte de ce qui est fait et je vous écrirai. Si vous avez besoin de moi encore, n'hésitez pas et je ferai tout mon possible pour vous aider dans cette pénible tâche. Je possède encore suffisamment de raison pour vous dire à quel point je vous regrette, pour vous d'abord, parce que vous aimeriez descendre les pentes glacées à toute vitesse et déployer vos talents de patineuse distinguée, pour moi, ensuite, parce que plus on est, (je n'ai pas dit de fous) plus on s'amuse et vous êtes, certes, une compagne fort amusante et fort aimable. Erschienen bei Vollard, Paris 1939 in 245 Exemplaren. - Der Maler und Graphiker Georges Rouault absolvierte von 1885-1890 eine Glasm…alerlehre, danach besuchte er die École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs und die École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris. 1901 hielt er sich für mehrere Monate mit Künstlern und Literaten um den Schriftsteller Joris-Karl Huysmans in der Nähe des Klosters Ligugé bei Poitiers auf. Der gemeinsame Plan, eine christliche Künstlergemeinschaft zu gründen, scheiterte jedoch am französischen Staat; christlichen Themen und Fragestellungen bestimmt zahlreiche seiner Arbeiten. 1913 kaufte der renommierte Kunsthändler Ambroise Vollard alle Bilder von Rouaults Ateliers auf, wobei er Rouault zugestand, die aus der Sicht des Malers größtenteils noch unvollendeten Arbeiten nach eigenem Rhythmus fertigzustellen. Während der engen Zusammenarbeit mit Vollard bestimmte ab 1917 für etwa zwei Jahrzehnte die Grafik sein Schaffen. - Im breiten Rand verstreut mit eher blassen Braunflecken.
