Condizione: Fine. Fine.…

Hardcover. Condizione: AS NEW COPY. AUSTRALIAN ART ABORIGINAL -Ngirramanujuwal is one who adds colour. Walmajarri man Jimmy Pike (c. 1940-2002) manifests colour as strokes of ink on paper: the saturated hues of the desert sky at dusk, and the glimmers of the sun on the water's surface. His vivid and exceptional drawing, painting and printing skills reveal the desert as a place teeming with colourful life, history and stories. Ngirramanujuwal: The Art and Country of Jimmy Pike is a specially curated selection of the internationally renowned artist's work from the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies collection. It invites the reader to journey through the Great Sandy Desert, experiencing the Walmajarri seasons - makurra, parranga, yitilal and jutalkarra - as revealed through Pike's art and intimate relationship with Country.First Edition. 127 pages : colour illustrations, map, portraits ; 29 cm. #130626 First Nations (AIATSIS) Subject: Art - Artists - Men Art - Drawing Art - Exhibitions Art - Painting - Acrylic Art - Print and printmaking Culture - Relationship to land Environment - Deserts History - Biographies - Indigenous Indigenous knowledge Walmajarri people A66 Walmajarri language A66 Juwaliny language A88 Djugerari / Jukurirri / Cherrabun (WA West Kimberley SE51-12) Great Sandy Desert (WA SE51, SF51) Subject: Pike, Jimmy, approximately 1940-2002 Pike, Jimmy, approximately 1940-2002 -- Childhood and youth Lowe, Pat, 1941- Artists, Aboriginal Australian Drawing, Aboriginal Australian Art, Aboriginal Australian -- 20th century Artists, Aboriginal Australian -- 20th century Walmajarri (Australian people) Walmajarri (Australian people) -- Biography Artists, Aboriginal Australian -- Biography Stockmen -- Western Australia -- Biography Livestock workers -- Western Australia -- Biography Australian Other authors/contributors: Norton, Paris, 1992-, curator, writer of added text Wilson, Leah, 1985-, curator, writer of added text Lowe, Pat, 1941-, contributor Ritchie, Craig, 1966-, writer of foreword Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, issuing body Elizabeth's Bookshops have been one of Australia's premier independent book dealers since 1973.
