Original wrappers bound-in with some chipping at edges cover with small sticker at inner margin with number ?6? First page of poem with clean tear, professionally repaired, no text affect at all, else copy content excellent. With two title pages the second being a reprint of the original 1595 edition. Other copies have this title bound after the preface our copy it is bound before. We find no other copies for sale at time of description. Previous description reports only 100 copies printed but we find no reference citation stating this. Indeed a rare book. Illustrations: Engraved vignette on title and last leaf. This second edition is taken from the original 1595 edition printed by Thomad Creede. [See ESTC: S110701 and STC 21088.The Lee Priory Press was operated by Sir Samuel Egerton Brydges from 1813 until 1823. ?Roberts, Henry (fl.1606), author, whose works are all of extreme rarity, may be identical with the ?Henrie Roberts, one of the sworne esquires? of Queen Elizabeth and envoy from her highness to ?Mully emperour of Marocco and king of fes?, in 1585, whose ambassage is recounted in Hakluyts ?Voyages? (1589, pp 237-9). Hew was subsequently attached to the court of James I, and was present at the festivities upon the occasion of the visit of Christian IV of Denmark in 1606. His ascertained works are. ?The Trumpet of Fame: Or Sir Fraunces Drakes and Sir John Hawkins Farewell? London 1595, 4to. The only known copy is in the Britwell Library. It was reprinted at the Lee Prioriy Press, with a preface by Park, 1818: it celebrates in homely decasyllabic verse the departure of Drake and Hawkins on their unsuccessful Porto Rico expedition? Very fine contemporary straight-grained panelled green morocco, with extensive tooling in both gilt and blind, and gilt titles to spines. All edges gilt, with light brown endpapers, and gilt dentelle to turn-ins. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown of each volume. Gently toned throughout, with some spotting to plates and facing leaves. Light wear to bindings, with some toning to spines, and a little gentle re-colouring to extremities. Corners bumped. Very good. A biographical dictionary of English literature, from Richard I in the twelfth-century up to the time of publication.

All edges are gilt, all pages clean and tight in the binding, with hinges in very good order. It is one of a set of one hundred volumes, this being vols. Hidden under the gilt, and visible only when pages are fanned out, is a finely detailed FORE-EDGE PAINTING, illustrating Tibullus at the house of Delia. Very good condition.
