B/w photographs & illustrations. Binding A. Light olive cloth boards, backed with brown cloth spine, spine titled in gilt. Some browning to cloth, end-papers and text. Good. Eric Parker, for many years the Editor-in-Chief of The Field, and well-known as the editor of the Lonsdale Library series of sporting books, describes in great detail his career as a journalist and author, including his association with sporting authors such as James Harting, William Senior and Gerald Burrard. He chronicles his efforts, through The Field, in such areas as grey squirrel control, research into partridge disease, and particularly his campaigns against egg-collecting and the sale of wild birds, culminating in the Wild Birds Protection Act. The latter part of the book, following the death of his wife, contains transcripts of many "sittings" or seances. Only brief mentions of angling. .
