Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. Rare. A vivid early account of the Rolling Stones in the recording studio ("you would think there had been a punch-up in the place"), followed by a few quotes from the band (MICK JAGGER: "I give the Stones about another two years"), then what's it like to be on tour with them: "they don't change their clothes. Some theatre managers and stage managers can't believe it at first. But as the time for the Stones to go on stage approaches and they sit around smoking and talking, it begins to dawn on officialdom that they are going on just like that. Long hair and high-heeled boots. Tight pants and jersey shirts. No ties." There are 32 pages in The Rolling Stones, if you include the covers, with more than 50 very good, very evocative black and white photographs by Nicholas Wright (who took the famous cover shot for the Stones' first LP). Still in very good condition overall, well-bound, the staples not rusty, hardly any marks of shelfwear and handling inside. The covers are a little bit more worn and spotted, but considering this publication was clearly produced to cash in on the wild success of the Stones' early UK tours, it's very well-preserved. There's no dates in the publication, but it must have come out in the second half of 1963 or early in 1964. There's a clue in the text as to why Mick Jagger's prediction for the Stones' longevity was so spectacularly wrong: "Just when you're certain there's going to be a riot, it's all over. Inside the auditorium, that is. But in the dressing-room the Stones are panting, excited, jubilant and analytical. They're telling one another where they went wrong and how their act can be improved".
