Il dirigea la commune pendant trente ans et fut aussi un conseiller général influent. Deséquipements majeurs furent réalisés pendant ses mandats, lepremier ayant été interrompu pa…r la guerre 14-18 au cours delaquelle, il se révéla un brillant officier.Paul de la Ruelle épousa Germaine Poute de Nieulle le 16 mars1921 et le couple eut trois enfants, Jeanne, Thomine et Jean-Paul. Ce dernier, malade mourut à 33 ans.Ses soeurs épousèrent les frères de Caffarelli, Arnaud, le fils de Thomine, étant l'actuel propriétaire duMoulin Henriet.Le comte de la Ruelle était un passionné de cavalerie et, c'est la plupart du temps à cheval qu'il venait au bourg. Il avait installé un manège au Moulin Henriet et disposait d'un autre àParis. Il y dressait des chevaux d'attelage et de cirque. À la déclaration de guerre, le comte de laRuelle rejoignit son unité. En septembre 1915, blessé à la tête ; il refusa d'être évacué. Le 25 septembre1916, à la tête du bataillon qu'il commandait, il s'empara de Rancourt, un haut fait d'armes mentionnédans le journal de guerre officiel qui lui valut d'être décoré de la légiond'honneur. En reconnaissance d'être revenu sain et sauf, il fit construire la grotte de la croix Morton.Nombre de réalisationsPaul de la Ruelle succéda comme Maire à Victor Ecomard fils. Nombreuses réalisations ont marqué sesmandats :? l'arrivée de l'électricité dans la commune? aboutissement de l'aménagement des principaux chemins vicinaux et ruraux? la création du service d'incendie en 1925? l'agrandissement des halles? la fondation Victor Ecomard pour les personnes âgées? l'aménagement d'un terrain de football? la réalisation d'un dispensaire et la salle Jeanne d'Arc en 1924.Provenance: Fond de l'Imprimerie STERN, 47 passage des Panoramas à Paris.Le Graveur Stern ou Stern Graveur est une société française d'imprimerie et de gravure fondée à Paris en 1834 dans le passage des Panoramas, bien connu pour ses gravures de haute qualité dont : les menus de repas de la haute société, les titres de bourse, les boutons de manchettes, les médailles, les billets de Banque, les cartes de visites et autres passeports diplomatiques. Graveur imprimeur à Paris, Stern Graveur, atelier spécialisé dans la gravure de papier à lettre, invitations, faire-part, monogrammes, chevalières armoriées, cartes de voeux.La Maison Stern et Aumoitte a été fondée en 1836 par Monsieur Aumoitte qui s'associe à un jeune graveur, Moïse Stern. Cette association dure jusqu'à la fin des années 1850 puis Moïse Stern reprend la Maison. L'ex-libris de la Maison Stern devient un grand « S » dans lequel se loge un lion dressé, la patte antérieure reposant sur le monogramme « MS » entrelacé. Une main brandissant un outil de graveur et deux pièces d'armure, un gant et le casque complètent la composition. En 1867 et en 1889, la Maison Stern se voit décerner la Médaille d'Or lors de ces deux expositions universelles. Par la suite Moïse Stern sera occasionnellement membre du jury qui décerne cette médaille. Dans les années 1890, M.Stern associe son fils René à l'entreprise qui prend le nom de Stern et fils. René Stern reprend la boutique à son compte en 1904. Parmi ses prestigieux clients, la Maison Stern a eu l'honneur de compter l'Elysée pour ses menus et ses invitations, les ambassades, la noblesse et les grandes entreprises françaises et étrangères. Chacun participe depuis longtemps au renom de la Maison. Depuis, les générations se sont succédé avec, aujourd'hui, une volonté très forte de conserver et valoriser un savoir-faire et des techniques qui tendent à disparaître.Engraver and printer in Paris, Stern Graveur, was a workshop specializing in the engraving of letterheads, invitations, announcements, monograms, heraldic signet rings, and greeting cards. Son style a beaucoup varié selon ses travaux (estampes, publicités, illustrations). Il apparaît évident que Pol Vexio s'est largement inspiré pour ses compositions érotiques d'autres artistes tant du XIXe siècle que des premières décennies du XXe siècle. On citera parmi ses influences évidentes : André Collot, Achille Devéria, Umberto Brunelleschi ou encore Paul-Emile Bécat. [TREIZE CUIVRES INEDITS GRAVES EN 1929 PAR UN PEINTRE EN VOGUE, TIRES EN 1969 A 45 EXEMPLAIRES]. S.l.n.d. (1969 ?) 1 chemise contenant 1 feuillet de titre manuscrit + 13 estampes libre…s tirées en noir. Chemise muette de papier crème. La chemise est légèrement salie avec de petites déchirures au dos. Les estampes sont en parfait état, sans rousseurs. Tirage annoncé à 45 exemplaires seulement. Notre exemplaire est numéroté 8. Sur certaines gravures on arrive encore à lire la signature dans la planche, à savoir "Pol Vexio". Nous avons rédigé une notice complète sur cette suite de 13 cuivres soit disant inédits et tirés en 1969 sur les plaques de 1929. Nous avons pu déterminer que ces cuivres sont en fait ceux qui ont servi à l'édition des Mémoires d'une chanteuse allemande, publié sous la rubrique anonymisée "Aux trois cents Disciples d'Esculape". Cette édition date de 1947 et a été limitée à 300 exemplaires. La suite de 13 cuivres que nous proposons ici a été tirée en noir sur beau papier vélin blanc BFK de Rives. Le tirage est nuageux ou plutôt cotonneux, sans doute la façon de procéder est-elle en cause. La cuvette est nette et bien présente, il ne fait donc aucun doute que ce tirage a été fait sur les cuivres originaux de 1947 (et non de 1929 comme annoncé). On peut dire que le tirage de ces 13 cuivres libres tient plus de la supercherie bibliophilique que d'une démarche artistique. Il est donc évident maintenant que ces 13 cuivres sont des retirages (partiels - 13 cuivres sur les 21 que compte l'ouvrage imprimé en 1947). Des retirages d'après les cuivres originaux (cela ne fait aucun doute), cuivres probablement rescapés depuis 1947 et utilisés par un pressier peu habile ou peu méticuleux car le tirage de 1969 (si le retirage date bien de 1969 . rien n'est moins sûr) est d'assez piètre qualité. Les compositions de Pol Vixio nettes et précises dans le tirage de 1947 apparaissent cotonneuses voire nuageuses dans ce retirage plus récent. Qui ? Quo ? Aucune idée de qui a fait ce retirage partiel de 13 des 21 cuivres originaux de 1947. Sans doute un amateur de curiosa qui aura retrouvé les 13 cuivres en question. A noter que nous avons retrouvé un autre exemplaire de cette suite, coloriée à l'aquarelle cette fois (exemplaire unique ? exemplaire d'amateur ? tirage spécial à quelques exemplaires ?). Si le tirage a bien été limité à 45 exemplaires pour ce retirage, on peut supposer quelques rares exemplaires ont eu les honneurs de la mise en couleurs. Combien ? très difficile de le savoir. En résumé, cette suite de 13 cuivres libres, soit disant inédits et datant de 1929 et imprimés en 1969, relève de la supercherie et rien de ce qui est annoncé ne semble vrai à l'exception peut-être du chiffre du tirage qui paraît plausible. Concernant l'artiste Pol Vexio (qu'on trouve aussi orthographié Paul Vexiau) on trouve assez peu d'informations sur lui sinon qu'il fut un commensal de Montmartre dans les années 1930. Son style a beaucoup varié selon ses travaux (estampes, publicités, illustrations). Il apparaît évident que Pol Vexio s'est largement inspiré pour ses compositions érotiques d'autres artistes tant du XIXe siècle que des premières décennies du XXe siècle. On citera parmi ses influences évidentes : André Collot, Achille Devéria, Umberto Brunelleschi ou encore Paul-Emile Bécat. Nous sommes preneur de toute information précise à propos de Pol Vexio. Conclusion : toujours se méfier des justifications manuscrites d'ouvrages rares ou désignés comme tel avec moult détails . en réalité, ici, cela cache une toute autre histoire bibliophilique. Quoi qu'il en soit, cet ensemble n'en n'est pas moins rare et les exemplaires se rencontrent désormais très difficilement. Leur exécution a le mérite d'avoir suscité notre curiosité et peut-être la vôtre. Nous donnons dans cette notice, la reproduction fidèle (si ce n'est qu'en réalité le papier est encore plus blan.
