Erste Ausgabe der Beschreibung des antiken Griechenland, verfaßt vom aus der Normandie gebürtigen Paulmier (latinisiert: Palmerius; 1587-1670). Der "gelehrte und tapffere" Philologus "that…eine Zeitlang unter den Holländern wider die Spanier Krieges-Dienste; nach geschlossenem Frieden aber verliebte er sich in eine frantzösische adeliche Dame, der zu Gefallen er viel Liebes-Lieder und Briefe verfertigte. Endlich erkannte er seine Vanität, und schrieb deswegen einen griechischen Dialogum unter dem Nahmen Dyserastes. Hierauf gieng er wieder in Krieg, und commandirte in Lothringen eine Compagnie Cavallerie [.], danckte aber 1635 wieder ab, verheyrathete sich zu Caen mit einer adelichen Dame aus Engelland, welche aber bald wieder starb, und half nachgehends viel beytragen, daß die Academie zu Caen aufgerichtet wurde. Sonst war er sehr aufrichtig und dienstfertig [.] Er ließ sich zweymahl am Blasen- und Nieren-Steine schneiden, und starb 1 Oct. 1670" (Jöcher). - Dem Text voran steht die hier ebenfalls zum ersten Mal gedruckte Palmerius-Biographie vom Caener Theologen Etienne (Stephan) Morin (1625-1700), der auch als Herausgeber fungierte. - Papierbedingt teils stärker gebräunt und gelegentlich etwas braunfleckig. Einband am oberen Gelenk innen gelockert. Sehr selten; international kein Exemplar im Auktionshandel seit 1970 nachgewiesen. - Jöcher III, 1205 (s. a. III, 681). Graesse V, 112. Brunet IV, 329.
