This shorter history of Bohemia was compiled from early sources which are listed in chronological order (626-645) with notes on manuscripts and their whereabouts (646-662). The preface is dated 13th October 1774, the work is dedicated to Friedrich Chrysogon Grafen of Nostitz and Rhinek a Czech patriot for whom Pelcl worked as tutor collaborating with other figures in the Czech revival such as Josef Dobrovsky and Vaclav Matej Kramerius. In 1793 he became the first professor of Czech language and literature at Charles University, Prague. This is the first edition of his first published work 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾".
