Sian Phillips appeared in the West End London production of the play in 1965, directed by Philip Wiseman and with designs by Peter Farmer, it ran from 24 March to 29 May at the Savoy Theatre. Set in a Mexican seacoast town the play centres on a fallen Episcopal priest in the middle of a nervous breakdown and working as a tour guide for church women. He finds himself strangely drawn to a virginal spinster, while a promiscuous widow competes for his attention. Sian Philipps (born 1933) actor famous for playing the evil, scheming, murderous Livia inÊÔI, ClaudiusÕÊ(BBC, 1976), for which she won the best actressÊBAFTAÊaward, was married to Peter OÕToole for nearly twenty years and is the mother of his two daughters. Somewhat used, otherwise near very good. Slight fading, well used, otherwise very good.
