Original Cloth. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Sixth impression from 1900 of a book originally published by Longmans in 1899. Signed by the author on the front free endpaper and dated 1909. Previous owner's name in ink to the top left corner of the front pastedown. I believe this was Charles Ponsonby, a Conservative MP. The owner has made some notes in pencil at the front of the book on the title page, dedication page and preface. There are a few more notes and annotations in pencil through the book. The boards have some rubbing and light to the corners. Browning and spotting to the page edges. The book has quite heavy spotting throughout with this affecting most of the pages. No jacket. 32 page publishers' catalogue at the rear of the book - this used different paper stock and is free from spotting.…
