Monumentale edizione originale uscita in oltre trent'anni di questa monografia storico-numismatica sulla Roma imperiale, magnificamente impressa e di straordinaria bellezza. I singoli volumi sono dedicati al duca regnante nell'anno di stampa. L'opera venne commissionata al gesuita Pedrusi per illustrare la collezione numismatica dei Farnese di Parma.
