Period bindings of calf leather and marbled paper, with gilt-lettered black leather title labels to spines. Heavy edgewear, rubbing, scuffing and soil; board showing at bumped spine ends and corners; front board of volume 10 is detached, and other boards are barely attached by the stitching. Bindings otherwise sound, text with scattered minor pencilling. Fore corners of text blocks are slightly bumped, causing minor creasing to page corners. Interiors toned, with scattered light soil and foxing, and a mild musty smell. The bulk of the foxing is to the pastedowns, eps and first/last few pages; the majority of the interiors show very little of it. Minor waterstaining along fore and lower edges of only the first several pages of volume 8 (no mildew or stuck-together pages). Many b/w illustrations, including detailed anatomical cross sections; volume 10 has numerous plates of steel engravings. No stickers or stamps. Not ex-library. Indexed. Measure 8 3/4" x 6 3/8". 592 + 601 pages. Scarce in any condition; few dental school libraries possess the entire original run of this important journal.
