Legature coeve in mz.pelle con titoli in oro ai dorsi. Minime spellature ai piatti marmorizzati. Opera adorna di 200 incisioni a soggetto satirico fuori testo, oltre a svariate vignette nel testo. Il primo volume consta di doppio frontespizio, il primo dei quali decorato con cornice a motivi allegorici. Capilettera ornati e finalini ad ogni singolo capitolo. Testo in bordura a doppio filo. Buon esemplare, salvo fisiologiche arrossature e qualche vecchio restauro. Michelangelo Pinto (Roma, 1818) fu console d'Italia e docente di letteratura italiana a San Pietroburgo. Proprietario del foglio satirico "Don Pirlone", si trasferì a Torino dopo la caduta della Repubblica Romana e qui dette alle stampe la presente Opera, che fustiga con satira pungente i costumi della restaurazione romana. Prima edizione economica di questa opera in tre volumi di Michelangelo Pinto, riccamente illustrata con 306 incisioni a piena pagina, testatine all'inizio dei primi capitoli di ciascun volume e capilettera ornati.Pinto fu console d'Italia, docente di letteratura italiana a San Pietroburgo, nonché il proprietario del foglio romano "Don Pirlone". Dopo la caduta della Repubblica Romana Pinto fuggì a Torino dove pubblicò la presente opera, mantenendo lo stile satirico che aveva fatto la fortuna del giornale romano."Don Pirlone" fu un quotidiano pubblicato nel 1848 e 1849 a seguito dei moti del 1848: ebbe da subito un enorme successo proprio per il suo linguaggio diretto, l'utilizzo della satira politica (principalmente contro il Papato, la Francia e l'Austria) e della caricatura nelle vignette.
