Maria Graham (née Dundas; 1785-1842) later Maria, Lady Callcott, was a British writer of travel books and children's books, and also an accomplished illustrator. She moved to India in 1808, marrying a Scottish naval officer in 1809. The couple returned to England in 1811, where Graham published this work, Journal of a Residence in India, followed soon afterwards by Letters on India. Light offsetting to title-page from frontispiece, minor spotting and marking; calf with some wear to spine ends, corners bumped, cracking to joints, but overall an attractive copy. Book.
