Hardcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. Edition and printing not known. In quite good tan leather boards, with blind stamped pattern to front and rear; five raised horizontal bands to spine, dark red title field with gilt titles. The boards are worn, especially on the edges and sides of spine and the front board is nearly detached. Overall fairly clean. The end papers are a little marked, mostly around the edges. The front paste down has an attractive book plate which is not filled in and the front free end paper has name of previous owner and dated 1794 with elaborate swirls. The top cut edge has a dark grey tint; the fore and tail edges have brown tint. The text pages have large white margins and the Latin text has a pale tint. There are attractive head pieces and tail pieces and dropped caps, illustrated title field in red and black and frontispiece. Many of the pages have old age marks but is perfectly readable. Condition is good minus.

Hardcover. Condizione: Good+. "Editio Nova" (New Edition), annotated/edited by Marcus Zuerius van Boxhorn (Latinized to Boxhornius on the title page), who had died 6 years earlier. Boxhorn was an important linguist before it was a separate science; he was the first to propose the existence of Proto-Indoeuropean, which he called Scythian. This is a 16mo volume with rather small type, bound in full vellum with a leather title piece. Good plus; the vellum is warped so that the front cover has begun to separate, and the front pastedown is torn. Has all-edge gilt but the top is quite dull. 404 pp. + index. Owner's names on the obverse of ffep and facing page; one of these has left a note, "collates perfect". (I didn't check.) The text is free of any writing or foxing.
