This book comprises 17 letters written by Rev Peter Plymley to his brother, in which he advocates for justice and empathy in the treatment of Catholics in Ireland. Written during a time of great tension between Catholics and Protestants, amidst fears of a rising Irish rebellion and a looming invasion by France, the letters promote the repeal of anti-Catholic laws. The author constructs strong arguments for the emancipation of Irish Catholics and writes from a perspective of sharp wit and careful logic, underpinned by powerful reasoning. Plymley presents a compelling case for the integration of Catholics into society, exploring themes of justice, tolerance, and the dangers of bigotry. This book is a compelling read for its historical insight into the challenges faced by Catholics in 19th century Ireland and for its valuable exploration of the ways in which religion and politics can intertwine. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
