Hardcover. Condizione: Fair. No Jacket. First Edition, First Impression. Humorous illustrated gift book with 12 delightful, tipped in, colour plates by Noel Pocock (1878 - 1949) on dark mounts. No date or printing stated so I believe it to be the first edition of 1911 rather than one of the reprints from that year. A light-hearted look at winter sports and those who take part in them. Hardcover in original pictorial cloth. 61 pp. 12 colour plates. Prologue and 12 songs to be sung to airs such as 'Nanki-Poo's Song' from The Mikado - all illustrated with b/w drawings by Pocock. Illustrated endpapers. The binding is somewhat worn and soiled with rubbing to edges, fraying to spine tips, splits to rear joint at top (8 cms) and bottom (4 cms), and a 1 cm closed tear underneath Pocock's name on the spine. Age-toning and spotting to page edges. The free endpapers and some early signatures (sections of the text block) have become separated. There is light foxing and soiling throughout but the plates are bright and clean except for one small pencil mark to "Domine Dirige Nos!". Overall, a fair copy of this scarce book but still desirable with all bar one of the plates in fine condition. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
