Opposite is a Title Page with a large Vignette of the Holy Family. 48 more beautiful Full-page Engraved Plates. Text arranged in Double columns. The type is a good size, clear and very easy to read. Undated Edition, circa 1850s-60s. Period Black full-leather binding with blind tooled decorative border on front & back. Spine has 5 Gilt decorated raised bands, bright gilt title and blind-tooled decorative motifs. Endpapers and all page edges marbled. 787 p. pages, 11" tall. No inscriptions. Very small scrape to leather on front. A few of the first pages were loose but have been carefully reattached with mending tissue. One Plate has a closed tear across the middle, carefully repaired from the back with mending tissue. The pages of the lives of the apostles are slightly tanned.
