Jahrhundert - Marmor 60 x 25 x 18 cm. - Vereinzelt mit minimalen Bestoßungen und leichter Patinierung. Insgesamt sehr gut. Prachtvolle, filigrane Arbeit. Die Skulp…tur von Antonio Canova, auf dessen Entwurf unser Werk beruht, entstand im Auftrag der ersten Gattin Napoleons, Joséphine de Beauharnais und befindet sich seit 1815 in der Eremitage in St. Petersburg. Sie ist ursprünglich Teil einer Trias, die drei lebensgroße Tänzerinnen umfasst, welche nach ihrer Fertigstellung zwischen 1807 und 1812 jedoch separiert und einzeln verkauft wurden. Die Tänzerin mit den Händen in den Hüften spiegelt in ihrer antikisierten, scheinbar schwerelosen Darstellung Canovas Ideal weiblicher Anmut wider. Den Tänzerinnen Canovas wurde von 2016 bis 2017 die Ausstellung "Canova und der Tanz" im Bode-Museum in Berlin gewidmet. Marmor. - A few minor chips and slight patina. Overall in very good condition. Magnificent, delicate workmanship. - The sculpture by Antonio Canova, on whose design our piece is based, was commissioned by Napoleon's first wife, Joséphine de Beauharnais, and has been in the Hermitage in St Petersburg since 1815. It was originally part of a triptych comprising three life-size dancers, which, however, were separated and sold individually after their completion between 1807 and 1812. The dancer with her hands on her hips reflects Canova's ideal of feminine grace in her classical, seemingly weightless depiction. The exhibition "Canova and Dance" at the Bode Museum in Berlin from 2016 to 2017 was dedicated to Canova's dancers. Kein Versand in die USA.
