The author was given permission to sail in the German ship, Meerkatze, to the Artic with his cameraman friend as an observer. He tells of the doctor's trips by rubber dinghy to attend his patients aboard the fishing boats, of rescue operations both successful and abortive, and of one of the worst hurricanes ever seen by the ship. He also describes of the Artic skies aflame with the Northern Lights and of nosing through hour-long blizzards which envelop the ship like fog. Included are maps and photographs. This copy is clean and solid. The dust jacket is chipped, worn, has early repairs discoloring some edges, and is now in mylar.
