Hardcover. Gray cloth, gilt letters on spine & front cover, gilt decoration, 84 pp., 1 BW illus. as frontispiece. American illustrator and author Esther Francesca "Fanny" Alexander (1837-1917) became a confidant of John Ruskin while she was living in Florence in 1882. The fact that he edited this book so quickly after their first introduction, speaks of his high regard for her abilities. He shortly thereafter purchased the 122 drawings that she had prepared for Roadside Songs of Tuscany. G- (Outer covering is slightly wrinkled and soiled; front hinge is broken inside at tp; pages have aged only slightly'; former owner name on first flyleaf.).

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. Two-volume set in red leather binding and gilt lettering to spine. 126 x 183 x 40mm, both volumes together. (xxiv) + 740pp; 636pp. Sixth edition, 'revised and re-arranged throughout' (first edition was 1888). All edges gilt; rounded corners; ribbon marker to each volume. No illustrations are included, the books presumably being designed for use within the gallery itself. Volume II has some loss at the top of the spine (about 4cm), the missing piece being preserved inside the volume; Volume I is better, with only very light rubbing at the corners; both covers otherwise clean; both vols have previous owner names to front endpapers, but are otherwise very clean internally with no marks or annotation. Overall, an attractive two-vol. set which would benefit from a small repair. NB: An extra shipping charge may be requested for heavier or more valuable items.
