Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good Plus. Andrew Crummy, Dorie Wilkie, Gillian Hart (illustratore). First Edition. 2010. xi, 262pp. Colour illustrations and b/w photos. "The Prestonpans Tapestry presents full colour images of all 104 panels of the world's longest embroidered tapestry together with accompanying historical analysis of each. It tells the story of the Hopes and Ambitions of 25 year old Bonnie Prince Charlie to regain the British throne for his exiled father. Within eight weeks of landing in the Hebrides he had raised a Highland army, taken Edinburgh without a shot being fired and defeated Johnnie Cope's Hanoverian army in a stunning Victory at Prestonpans. Scotland was his. This tapestry has been stitched by volunteers along the route the Prince took in 1745 and each of them is recorded in the book. The completed work took 24 months to complete and in excess of 25,000 stitching hours. Andrew Crummy designed the tapestry in its entirety with Dorie Wilkie leading the stitchers." Book in excellent condition. The jacket is covered with removeable clear plastic for protection. Dust jacket unclipped and also very good with just slight wear. PLEASE NOTE: Heavy book extra may be needed for shipping to non-UK customers.

Aggiungi al carrelloIllustrated Card Cover. Condizione: Fine. 1st Edition. The Prestonpans Tapestry is a large embroidery created - and normally situated in - Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland. The design, size and style were inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry; however, the Prestonpans Tapestry deals with the events before, during and after the Battle of Prestonpans on 21 September 1745 where Bonnie Prince Charlie triumphed over the Hanoverian Army led by Sir John Cope. The Tapestry is like the Bayeux Tapestry an embroidered cloth, rather than a woven tapestry. More than two hundred embroiderers created the work over a two-year period; more than half these reside in Scotland from the places where Bonnie Prince Charlie marched to his Victory. Other embroiderers with family links come from as far as the US, Australia and New Zealand. this book was published at the time of the tapestry's first display - when it was exhibited in many towns in Scotland. 262p depicting all the tapestry's panels with background history and portraits of their "stitcher's". The book is clean, tight and unmarked and near fine. Very collectable or presentable copy.See scans. Size: Oblong 4to.
